Back in July, the Mid-Summer Classic took over Miami for the 2017 MLB All-Star Game. Hosted by the Miami Marlins, guests were greeted with Miami-flare at every turn. I had the amazing opportunity to plan a luxury, domestic incentive trip for a group of 45 to partake in the festivities.

Our home for the weekend was EAST, Miami hotel located on top of Brickell City Centre in the heart of Downtown Miami. A quick 15-minute drive from Miami International Airport and 30 minutes from Marlins Park made this the perfect location for our All-Star weekend. Designed by Miami-based architects East, Miami reflects the local spirit of Miami with Feng Shui incorporated throughout. Each room incorporates a minimalistic design and state of the art technology along with full balconies to enjoy the great Miami weather and downtown views.

Private Reception

We kicked off the weekend with a speak-easy style Welcome Reception on top of EAST, Miami in the Tea Room.  This [literally] hidden gem isn’t easy to find, but once you do, you won’t forget it. The room is so secretive; I can’t even share our photos! Located on the 40th floor, you must find the right door to knock for exclusive entrance. This breath-taking space offered stunning views with its floor to ceiling windows behind the bar. Lush velvet couches and leather seating around candlelit cocktail tables created the perfect intimate space for our guest to mix and mingle.  Our guests enjoyed tapas style hors-d’oeuvres, hand-crafted cocktails and even a visit from retired pitcher Rollie Fingers.

Lunch on the Water

The following day, guests were off to sea for a beautiful lunch cruise. The 100’ Midnight Sun yacht included a first level dining room and a club lounge on the second level with a full bar and open-air aft deck. Guests enjoyed a buffet lunch while we sailed through Biscayne Bay, Port Miami, Fisher Island, and Star Island.

Home Run Derby

That evening we took in the first of our MLB experiences, the Home Run Derby. Our tickets included access to the Legends Hospitality Suite for unlimited food and drinks before the first home-run was hit.  Seated out in right field, our guests marveled at the show put on in front of them. Finally witnessing Aaron Judge hit nearly four miles of home runs on his way to win the title.

Brunch by the Pool

The next day included brunch offered on the pool deck of EAST, Miami. The Shrubbery is the perfect spot to cool off from the Florida sun and enjoy a Miami-inspired brunch buffet. Reserved pool beds and outdoor games created the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing day before the big event.

All-Star Game

The final event and culmination of the weekend was the MLB All-Star Game played at Marlins Park.  First base side seats provided the perfect view for the game. Everyone enjoyed a hard-fought game which concluded in extra-innings with the American League winning off a 10th inning Robinson Cano home run.

Miami was the perfect location for such a high-energy event, and even without the MLB All-Star Game activities, it’s a great spot for your next domestic incentive trip.
